I don’t know about you, but I find myself here often.
A place of uncertainty.
Where there seem to be more questions than answers.
Where the future is unclear. The tasks ahead daunting. The wait for resolution wearisome.
But it’s become a familiar place, and since I’ve been here so frequently, I may as well take comfort in what I already know. While it’s tempting to babble endlessly about the complications of life, sometimes all I really need are the short, sweet basics.
And the basics haven’t changed.
1) I can walk in obedience today.
Though I can’t see more than one step ahead of me, I have God’s Word — a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105). I have enough of His revelation to live today according to His will.
2) I can remember what God’s already done.
While I’m waiting for tomorrow’s marching orders, yesterday’s memories prove His faithfulness, provision, and direction. And He hasn’t changed (Hebrews 13:8).
3) I can trust Him for the future.
His promises are true. If He says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you,” (Psalm 32:8), then He really will. In His timing, not mine.
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. —Psalm 46:10
For right now, that’s really all I need to know.
How have you been? I’d love to hear from you or lift you up in prayer if you too have a few uncertainties to wade through.
