Apart from Me, you can do nothing

Apart from me you can do nothing

Lifting Our eyes to Christ: Monday’s Scripture Passage

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

I am the Vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.

John 15:4-5

How easily I reverse this process… trying to produce fruit to prove (to myself, others, and even God) that I’m close to the Lord, forgetting it’s only through my relationship with Him that any fruit is possible!

Monday Prayer

Jesus, please help us today to abide in You. Let us not waste our breathe, our energy and our time doing anything apart from You. We confess we need You. Let us love and serve out of our relationship with You. Amen.

Have a blessed Monday, friend!

  1. Have to ask does anyone just call you Jen? I always want to shorten your name as with my friends but I know some prefer to be called by their given name…
It was a different day for me today…no school…no agenda…starting my day with a beautifully long and truly quiet quiet time…even got to read for awhile.
Thought about how grateful I am to God for my life…nothing without Him! As I get ready to rest my head on my pillow, I read this Scripture verse it is a gentle affirmation of my thoughts…thank You Jesus for remaining in me! I remain in You! With you I am who I am! Amen!

    • I’m so happy for you and your peaceful day and time with God! And yes, pretty much everyone calls me Jen. Feel free to join the club. šŸ™‚

  2. Thank you Jennifer. I needed to read this, because I also have the tendency to reverse this process. Very timely for me. Thank you.
